Day 194: Sniped

I've been watching this quickshifter for over a week, when it was listed I put in the minimum bid and I was the highest bidder for a few days. I was then outbid so I waited and this afternoon I upped my my bid to a couple of hundred below the cost of a new one and figured i'd be pretty safe with that.

Guess not.

I've used eBay snipers with great success before, I didn't think to use one this time. Unfortunately, I was beaten at my own game. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a new one after all. Look out Google, here I come!

Day 178: Beaut Beemer

I took a little trip out to Queanbeyan at lunch time today to pick up a couple of heated handgrip kits that I'd found on eBay. The guy I bought them from had just completed a restoration and cafe racer conversion on the old BMW that you see in today's photo. I don't really know more than the fact that it's an old BMW and it was in such poor condition that it was given to him, but I do know I like what he did with it.

Day 164: Leverage

It took a while, but my replacement gear lever arrived to day. On the 1st of April the lever started slipping on its spline while I was riding out in Tallaganda with Pete, Andy & Lachlan, it's taken this long for me to find a replacement on eBay, order it and have it delivered from the UK. It's worth waiting when the cost is less than 50% of what the local shops want to charge, which is fine when you're not in a hurry. I'll get around to fitting it sometime soon too but since I'm not likely to have a weekend free to ride for a while, there's no real hurry for that either.

Day 63: Dale's Door

After the installation of the new garage door opener for Belinda's side of the garage, and the associated remote control that is nice and small, I was tempted to do a little covert rearrangement so Belinda's car would only fit on the old door side. Fortunately my laziness and eBay search skills combined to remove the need for all that rearranging.

I found a new remote to suit the old garage door opener for just under $25 delivered and it was in the mailbox when I got home last night. Today I spent 5 minutes following the instructions supplied with the remote programming the garage door opener to respond to the new remote and then reprogramming the old remote so it would also work... unfortunately the new code I was given for the old remote didn't work, so only the new remote would open the old door.

This is where the good news part of the story kicks in: I emailed the eBay seller requesting the correct code for the old remote and within 20 minutes I had a reply with a link to a video on how to reprogram the new remote to the old remote's frequency. So I followed the instruction again and this time both remotes worked perfectly. This is among the best service I've had from any eBay seller and I'm happy to recommend these guys to anyone who needs (or just wants) a replacement garage remote.
