Day 344: Paper Cranes

We tried to be a little organised today by going in to the Canberra Centre to start some Christmas shopping. I'm not sure how much Belinda got done (we went in separate directions for a while) but I came out all but empty handed. Luckily, I've got some stuff already on the way. Have I mentioned how much I like shopping online?

At least we saw this cool paper crane display, which I've highjacked for my daily photo. I didn't have my camera with me so I had to use the iPhone and I have to say that the image quality on my new one is so much better than that of the old 3Gs I had previously.

Day 284: Domestic Supplies

A little parcel full of more online shopping arrived today. Nothing too exciting though, we stumbled across a special deal on dishwashing tablets at a stupidly low price so we stocked up. As well as the washing supplies we found some really cheap 32GB SD cards so we bought one each of those as well.

Now we'll be able to take thousands of photos of our clean dishes for roughly the next 6 months without having to clear the camera's SD card or buy more dishwashing stuff. Life is good.

Day 269: Expanding Capabilities

This little gem arrived in the mail today, it's a funky little adaptor that lets me us Nikon F mount lenses on my Nikon V1 camera. I'm now looking forward to actually using this with some of Belinda's lenses and might even look into buying some F mount lenses of my own.

It's quite a heavy little thing, and it's got all the contact points to bring power to the lens so it will auto focus. The local camera shops were asking a lot of money for one of these and they didn't actually carry them in stock either. By shopping online I saved close to 40% and had delivery within a week. I wonder how long it will be before retail outlets are a thing of the past?

Day 191: Daytona's New Clothes

Being on leave is handy when the Parcel Post man shows up to deliver a box that would have required the trailer to pick up.

Inside was the new race glass I ordered online about 4 weeks ago, it'll still need some prep work before it's ready for fitting though. The surfaces are a little rough and the mounting holes will need to be drilled once it's been prepped and painted, I'll also have to source some quick release fasteners to secure the lower fairing to the upper.

Now I've just got to come up with a suitably simple design and then find the time to prep and paint it all.

Day 117: Rungs In The Mail

About a week ago I ordered a new ladder online, it was a spur of the moment thing with the 'deal' only being available for 24 hours. Today it arrived at the post office and I was able to pick it up on my way home from work. It's one of those multi position ladders that can disassemble and become 2 x smaller A frames, I'm sure that will come in handy eventually.

It will be interesting to see how many times I blog about my online shopping habit this year, and whilst I think this is probably one of my least exciting purchases it'll still add to the final count.

Day 96: Peristent Postal Patronage

On Monday the 26th I sent my old iPod Nano off to be replaced under a safety recall scheme. Today the replacement arrived and I think I got a pretty good deal: I sent off my old poverty pack 2GB Nano and a little over a week later I received a new 8GB Nano that's about a 3rd the size of the old one and has 4 times the memory, plus it's got a fancy little touch screen.

Belinda picked it up from the post office for me this afternoon, she'd had a parcel notification yesterday and had no idea I had one waiting for me as well (either did I for that matter). Funnily enough when Belinda arrived at the post office and said she was picking up a parcel for Moss, the counter staff asked "Is that for Dale?". I think Belinda was a little put out that they were all very aware that my mail had arrived but seemed to be completely unaware that she gets mail too. This may have been compounded when Belinda mentioned it was a little embarrassing that they knew me so well and their response was along the lines of "We know all of our best customers by name...".

I've chosen to view my "best customer" status at the local post office as a good thing and ignore the possibility that some may see this as a sign that I shop online too much. It seems that persistence pays when it comes to being known by your Postie.

Day 76: More Shoes...

I'm starting to wonder whether I actually buy more shoes than Belinda; it's entirely possible that recently I have been buying more than I would normally but in saying so I have to also say that Belinda has quite the head start on me in these matters.

I bought this pair online, at $25 they were too cheap not to... I do love a bargain. I hadn't owned this brand before but with leather uppers and the skate shoe styling that I like in my casual shoes, I figured I had nothing to lose. As it turns out the shoes are very comfortable and I'm happy with this purchase that has brought me one step closer to having as many shoes as my wife... not sure that the latter is actually a good thing though.
